Safer chemicals
The “Safer chemicals” sustainability feature highlights products that are made with chemicals safer for human health and the environment as verified by the following certifications:
BIFMA Level certifies furniture products based on corporate, facility, and product manufacturing processes against environmental impact, health and wellness, and social responsibility criteria.
Bluesign certifies textiles made with safer chemicals, fewer resources and less energy at production sites.
COSMOS Organic by Ecocert certifies beauty care products where a minimum 95% of the plant ingredients are organic. A product with this certification does not contain synthetic colours, dyes, or fragrances, genetically modified ingredients, and is not tested on animals.
COSMOS Organic by Soil Association certifies beauty care products according to the international COSMOS standard and meets the required percentages of organic ingredients.
Cradle to Cradle certifies products made with safer materials and responsible processes based on meeting science-based requirements including health and wellbeing, material reuse, emissions reductions, water quality, and fair and safe labor practices.
ECOLOGO certifies consumer products based on reduced environmental impacts at one or more stages of their lifecycle, from raw materials to end of life.
EU Ecolabel certifies consumer products based on their reduced environmental impact across multiple stages of the product lifecycle from raw material extraction, to production, use and disposal.
EWG Verified certifies products that use safer ingredients, free from EWG’s chemicals of concern based on chemical safety and the impacts of exposure to toxic chemicals on human health.
Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certifies clothing and home products based on standards for the processing of clothing and home materials made with organic fiber. GOTS certified products contain a minimum of 70% organic fibers.
Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certifies recycled content in products has been independently verified at each stage of the supply chain, from the source to the final product and meets social, environmental, and chemical requirements. A product must contain at least 50% certified GRS material to qualify for Climate Pledge Friendly.
Green Seal certifies products that have reduced environmental impacts at one or more stages of their lifecycle from raw materials to end-of-life products based on evaluation of performance and compliance with strict health and environmental standards.
Made in Green by OEKO-TEX® certifies articles that have been manufactured using processes with a reduced environmental impact and under socially responsible working conditions.
Made Safe certifies consumer products made without known toxic chemicals based on screening for over 6,500 harmful substances to ensure products meet their rigorous standard.
Natrue certifies natural and organic cosmetics made with non-genetically modified natural and derived-natural substances.
Nordic Swan Ecolabel certifies consumer products based on compliance with product-specific environmental, health and quality requirements in all relevant stages of the lifecycle - raw materials, production, usage, re-use and recycling.
OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certifies textile based products based on testing against a list of 1,000+ regulated and unregulated chemicals which may be harmful to human health.
Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) certifies food, textiles and personal care ingredients based on standards for soil health, animal welfare, and social fairness.
Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certifies animal welfare and land management practices in wool production. Products containing wool are tracked from farm to final product. A product must contain at least 50% certified RWS material to qualify for Climate Pledge Friendly.
Soil Association certifies organic products and is a Certification Body for the COSMOS-standard, which ensures products are genuine organic or natural cosmetics.
TCO Certified certifies IT and technology products based on lower environmental and climate impact, safer chemicals and circular design which reduces e-waste.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Design for the Environment certifies disinfectants that meet the EPA’s strict standards for human and environmental health.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Safer Choice certifies products that contain ingredients that are safer for human health and the environment, carefully evaluated by EPA scientists. Safer Choice is an EPA Pollution Prevention (P2) program, which includes practices that reduce, eliminate, or prevent pollution at its source, such as using safer ingredients in products.
